Police Who Wrongfully Arrested Elderly Black Vet Blame Obama for “War on Cops”

by Yvette Carnell

In January of this year the Seattle Police Department apologized for arresting an elderly black veteran for no reason. Even with that incident, and a track record of racial profiling, the head of the Seattle Police Officers Guild believes that the federal government is waging a “war on cops.”

According to The Stranger,   the SPOG Facebook page posted the link to a Fox News commentator accusing “The White House and this administration have created a war against police officers in this country with their allegations [and] false assertions that there is widespread and pervasive racism in the United States of America that lives in the heart and minds of the men and women in blue.”

The SPOG captioned the clip with “Truth.” And in case you’re thinking this was some mishap by a low level intern or functionary, consider that The Stranger’s Ansel Herz confirmed via text that SPOG’s head, Ron Smith, posted the status update.

The real truth is that 70 year old William Wingate had to get help from former state Representative Dawn Mason to have charges against him dismissed after he was arrested for walking while black.

Officer Cynthia Whitlach reportedly arrested Wingate, a veteran and former bus driver, for threatening her with a golf club that he has used as a makeshift cane for some 20 years.
