Malcolm X and Marshall street: 50 years on in the shadow of ukip

Fifty years ago Malcolm X visited Birmingham UK, just 9 days before he was assassinated. On his trip to the city he visited Marshall Street in Smethwick, which was in the grip of a housing controversy, with the council buying up houses to prevent ethnic minorities moving in. Later in the year one of the most racist elections in British history took place, with the victorious Conservative candidate for the area endorsing the slogan ‘If you want a Nigger for a neighbour, vote…

THE WORD AKATA

Contrary to popular opinion among non-Yorubas and some Nigerians or Africans who does not understand this word, akata does not mean cotton picker or slave and it is not derogatory.

It means a cat that doesn't live at home like a wild non domesticated cat, this is used to reference mostly African Americans as they are considered Africans by all Africans but the fact that they don't live in Africa make them akata while those of us who live at home…

From the kings of Aragon to the Revolution

[...]" The Moor's head appeared for the first time only in 1281, on a seal of the king Pierre III known as Le Grand. It was quadruple and surrounded a cross. The successors of Pierre III kept on using this emblem during a good century and it was only in 1387 that the King Jean the lst went back to the seal with four pales of his ancestors, that he used alone and that was conserved by his successors as long as the kingdom of Aragon lasted."…

The settlers were at first on good terms with the island's  Caribs/Kalinagos inhabitants, though such friendship lasted only a very few years. By 1626 both the British and the French settlements were expanding at such a rate that the Carib/Kalinagos Community began to perceive a threat to its very existence on the island. OUR STORY HERE IN BRITON

The study of English history reveals waves of colonizers and immigrants whether this is though the Romans, Vikings, Germanic tribes, the Normans etc. All depicted as white, caucasian, and at least in modern times able to be categorized as being of european stock. However, what seemingly does not find its way into print is an African presence. That is not until the 1500s with the beginning of the slave trade, where Africans are recorded as blackamoor pets, domestic servants, soldiers, and…
