[Exclusive] Dot The Mamba Q And A And Release Of His Debut Project 11:11

What is your artist name?
My name is Dot The Mamba

Why did you pick this name for your project?
I chose 11:11 because the title reflects to me wishful thinking about the things that going on in my life as well with what we are dealing with in the world meaning as much as we contemplate about the things we don't have, I'm appreciative about what I do have and that's my family, a chance to do what I love doing, etc and I hope people would connect to it and tell the stories about my struggles as well connect to those regardless of our different struggles.

How long have you been making music?
I have been making music for a few years now since 2016 but it's my first time doing a project and it's been 2 years in the making for this one.

Is your music on all digital platforms?
My music is available on all digital stores and streaming platforms.

What style of music do you make?
My style of music can be a bit trap but I'm influence by the vibe of it. It can be whether trap, drill, smooth laid back type. To me I can adapt to any style if the vibe matches.

Who inspires you to make music?
I'm influenced by the K. Dots, J. Coles, Joyner Lucas, Eminem, Outkast, Biggie, Pac, Jay-Z, Nas, Lil Wayne, Kanye, Nipsey, and etc.

What was your first song called?
My first song was Get it All featuring Kendrick.

Do you have any tips for artists just starting out?
My advice for those starting out is continue to grind and hustle hard. Keep the faith. I tried to stay aggressive by making sure I have the right music out for everyone especially that puts them in that vibe whether they turn up or riding smooth, etc. Like Kobe, you gotta have that mamba mentality to keep getting better. And if you don't like how you are doing your music, just keep getting better and it is a process but you gotta trust it and pray that it will work out and continue to push your music like hell. Whatever style of music you do, go and support that and don't let anyone stop you from doing it.

Why did you start making music?
I started making music at first to express my soul since I had troubles communicating with people cause I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at the age of 8. Almost a type of autism but music has helped me express feelings that I've never felt before and started writing rhymes knowing that I got a story to tell that I wanna share with the world. I knew that I was gifted and blessed with it and of course I do it for the love of it. That doesn't go away.

What do you wanna accomplish with your career?
What I wanna accomplish is help give Mississippi a voice and yes we do have Big Krit and he's one of those artist from my state that I look up to but I wanna show the world that the Sipp has something to say and we refused to be overlooked for far too long. I want artist from Mississippi to get that same love and respect like artist from New York, Cali, Atlanta, Houston, Miami, Chicago and even in North Carolina. We have a lot of talent, we're just not given the chance to showcase and all we're asking is a chance. That's my mission and my goal.

Where do you see yourself in a year from now?
A year from now, I wanna see myself touring with other artist and perform. Also I wanna be a star but an artist who is never satisfied and ain't resting on his morals to continue to be one of the best to ever do it. I'm passionate and dedicated and determined.

How has this Coronavirus filled year helped you?
At first it was tough since the pandemic started cause like most we didn't know how to handle it but I was able to adjust and use the energy in my music and find the silver lining in a year that's been filled with bad news on top of bad news. Was able to hang with my family and it made me realize how blessed I am and appreciate that everything isn't given nor taken for granted and I channeled it to help my mental mind state.

It gave me time to record this project that I been working on since late last year or early this year.

How have you handled life with everything going on now?
I've handled it pretty well. Not perfect but well enough cause I had to adapt to what we now call the new normal and
making sure that I stay safe and still find ways in this crazy year.

Any shout outs?
I wanna shoutout my boy Tre G, 5th Boi and well as the rest of Goodmantality, shoutout to my small city Greenwood. To my mom and pops and my family. And those that help me with this project man including Dillon Cash.

5 lessons you've learned in your life til now?
The 5 lessons I've learned are patience, trusting the process, learning how to use my platform for change that we are still chasing, love and blessings are cherished.
