February 25th began what would seemingly represent the Introduction to Sequoia. I would break into my musical career & pursue my journey to “stardom”. Taking my first flight ever, from Tampa Fl ending up in Queens New York. I remember asking my manager Parnell were we in the ghetto because of how how outdated the buildings were lol. From there I settled in & let my spiritual process begin. In prayer & diligence, I meditate my way through. Through the spirit I was led to a driver, hairstylist, & a nonprofit. Landing me my first gig. At a church invited by Dr. Walter Kyte Memorial foundation. Jamaica ave was my stomping grounds. I shopped there, & supplied all beauty needs.
Even attended Oneness Pentecostal. It was like being in the woods on a journey & finding a compass! My first press run was thee most exhausting, exciting, terrifying thing I’d ever experienced. The adrenaline rush I’ve craved lol. I traveled through the millions of people in the city, made Starbucks a priority, & met other artist. (Chantman from Jamaica is the dopest check him out). I worked with my very first celeb photography the amazing Andrew Fenell! He’s shot for other amazing artist like lil mama, Queen Naija, Alexis Skyy! I’m still processing lol. I experienced my first radio interview with the infamous Dj Thoro from Thisis50. He was so warm & encouraging. He told me how much quality he felt from my spirit & I will never forget his words. Especially since he wished Beyoncé’s presence into my life lol. (Head over to Thisis50 Sequoia youtube link to check out that dope interview.
My next major interview was at the 1 & only “TheSitDown” over at power105.1. 1 of the most upbeat, super fun experiences yet. Dope team too! After that interview everything up until this point kind of became a blur. An abundance of Jamaican food, hella alone time in my hotel room, & coronavirus updates. Crazy enough when I sought out to accomplish my goals. Like any goal setter, I knew obstacles would come. Did I think the worse that’s yet to come, would actually come????? No! But we all know slaying Goliath isn’t easy. So I pressed forward, I stayed prayerful, & diligent in my calling.
As things progressively got worse, I got a little deeper into my purpose. Moving into my uncles home who, get this! Was an artist himself growing up. Never knowing any of this side of my family growing up. Thinking my music career took a turn for the worse. Learning my lineage & who I am. I guess it’s safe to say I’ve peaked! At the moment I’m currently caring for my uncle who was diagnosed with COVID19. Still my story has just begun!
