The young black american storyteller Savon Bartley has released a brand new single entitled, ‘Let Me Go’. The funky, uptempo track is about an ultimatum that he gave a new girl he was seeing after they had argued for days about staying together or not. ‘’Let Me Go’’ tells the story of what happened.
When speaking about the track, Savon says, “I was so frustrated with the girl I was seeing that the song pretty much wrote itself. It felt like I couldn’t do anything right even though I was trying my best. After a while I knew my best just wasn’t enough for her so I gave her a choice. Either love me or leave me alone.”
Savon Bartley was born an only child in North Chicago, Illinois. Raised by a single mother the music he makes allows him to express how it feels to grow up without his father in his life. “A versatile lyricist…” over jazz and funk inspired productions, his flow has allowed him to tour the world and garner attention from outlets like Afropunk, The Noise Gate, Hype Magazine, and Link Up TV.
Savon started his career singing in church and playing the drums in his school band. While struggling with the pain of growing up without a father, he used music and poetry to turn that pain into something positive instead of filling the void with things that would hurt him. After singing in the church turned into rapping at the lunch table and playing the drums turned into playing with drum machines, Savon jumped into the independent music scene and has been touring and performing around the world ever since. If it’s interesting storytelling, and infectious beats you’re after, there should only be one name on your lips.
