Daycare and other neighborhood centers are constructed, repaired and improved in urbanized areas through grants from the Community Entitlement Grant Program, sponsored by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Grants also fund construction and renovation projects of public facilities such as water and sewer systems, roads and residential and nonresidential buildings. Cities with a population of at least 50,000 are eligible to apply for these grants. Political activities and government building construction projects are not eligible to be funded with these grants.
